Siemens UK PLC is a digital pioneer focusing on the areas of electrification and automation. They needed help to clearly and concisely explain their involvement with the Northern Powerhouse. The situation was that Siemens had developed a commitment to the Northern Powerhouse project, and had been involved in forming government policy for Industry 4.0 and they wanted a news-worthy policy announcement that could be used for news releases and promotional purposes.
Our remit was to create a half hour interview and taster video that would focus on promoting the Northern Powerhouse manufacturing campaign for this world-class electronics firm. The interview would be with Siemens Chief Executive, Juergen Maier.
In the planning phase, we focused on the key themes of the project and how we wanted to get them across. We had almost no budget, so figured out very quickly that we would be relying on one single interview that we could then edit into a variety of smaller videos. The whole campaign would succeed or fail based on our ability to help Maier touch on Siemens key themes with regards to the Northern Powerhouse.
We set up at Siemens UK HQ and readied ourselves for the very small window that the Chief Executive would have for the interview. Nick Peters was the journalist conducting the interview and we filmed a double-header, covering his questions as well as Juergen's answers. This raw material was then handed back to Nick Peters and Siemens for press use. Finally, we edited together a promotional taster for The Manufacturer magazine to coincide with their Industry 4.0 campaigns.
This single interview, and the various splinter videos made out of it, allowed Siemens to clearly and concisely explain their commitments to the Northern Powerhouse. The video promos were used on the Northern Powerhouse manufacturing campaign and relevant social media sites.
